Oak Framing
Timber framing (often in oak) is as old and as full of history as the story of architecture in wood itself. It is centuries old and proven as a capable means of shelter from the elements. Timber framing can be beautifully simple in its construction or sometimes highly complicated with four or five timbers at the junction of one joint, and nearly always held together with simple wooden pegs.
It is popular today as we appreciate not only the structural capabilities but also the aesthetic, the feeling that comes with large timbers wrought only enough for their structural purpose - leaving band saw tooling marks as the finished surface and often leaving the timber exterior to weather naturally.
